From July 2 to 5, the 2024 Global Digital Economy Conference was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. With the theme of “Opening a New Era of Digital Intelligence, Sharing a New Digital Future”, the conference has set up a framework of “1+6+3+N” activities, including an opening ceremony and a main forum, six high-level forums, three branded events, and a number of thematic forums and a series of activities. This year, the conference will help expand the “circle of friends” of the global digital economy and continue to promote cooperation in the digital field by adding new “partner cities” and building a cooperative network of business associations. In order to implement the “Global Digital Economy Partner Cities Cooperation Initiative” released by the Conference in 2023, Beijing put forward six action plans this time: firstly, to deepen the interconnection and interoperability of digital infrastructures; secondly, to promote the early and pilot implementation of digital rules and standards; thirdly, to carry out the joint cultivation of digital talents; fourthly, to promote the cooperation of pilot and demonstration projects; fifthly, to establish a service base of “going overseas” for digital economy enterprises; and sixthly, to establish a service base of “going overseas” for digital economy enterprises. Fifth, initiating the establishment of a service base for digital economy enterprises to “go abroad”; and sixth, carrying out research on urban standards for digital economy.

As a national science and technology innovation center and an international communication center, Beijing is focusing on building a digital economy benchmark city with unique resource endowments. At present, Beijing's new infrastructure such as 5G network base stations and intelligent arithmetic centers are rapidly improving, the data element ecosystem is initially formed, and digital industries such as artificial intelligence and autonomous driving are booming.

It is reported that the 2024 Global Digital Economy Conference was approved by the State Council and organized by the Beijing Municipal People's Government and the State Internet Information Office.
